I can’t help but mention that while we were just having a few pre lunch drinks at the mess tent all the Rekero clients in camp watched Binti, elder sister to Kali, hunting on the far bank of the Talek,!! But that’s not what I wanted to tell you about this week, we are very lucky to have a staggering number of Cheetahs around us at the moment, one was even seen this morning crossing the Talek from the breakfast table, but also we have many mothers with cubs of varying ages!! |

I’m sure you will forgive us for another leopard story this week ! Kali is a small male cub that people may have seen on Big Cat Live. On Friday 23rd January many Rekero guests were lucky enough to have an experience with this leopard that few safari goers have ever had. |

21st January, 2009 In the early morning light we were lucky enough to follow this large male leopard for just under an hour. We picked him up sunning himself on a termite mound not far out of camp and watched as he plodded through the grasslands, with warthog and impala fleeing from his line of sight. To spend an hour with any leopard is a special experience, but to do so with such a large male, in such gorgeous light took my breath away! Salaams Martin

Happy New Year to you all! To start it off, I thought I’d give you a quick up date with what has been seen over the festive season. The guests have excelled with their viewings; some seeing 12 Cheetah in 3 days. Not only do we have “Honey’s boys” (the three brothers) to follow, but we have also recorded 6 different females with cubs in our area in the last week. |

The Maasai Mara never takes a rest, last week we were so happy to see 6 Cheetahs with cubs and it’s with a deep sadness that one of these Mothers along with one cub were killed last week by 6 Lionesses, one cub remained and managed to seek shelter from the Lionesses in a thicket. |
